Overview

The North East is a true frontier region. It has over 2000 km of border with Bhutan, China, Myanmar and Bangladesh and is connected to the rest of India by a narrow 20 km wide corridor of land. One of the most ethically and linguistically diverse regions in Asia, each state has its distinct cultures and traditions. From times immemorial, India’s North East has been the meeting point of many communities, faiths and cultures. A place renowned for its magical beauty and bewildering diversity, North East India is the home for more than 166 separate tribes speaking a wide range of languages. Some groups have migrated over the centuries from places as far as South East Asia; they retain their cultural traditions and values but are beginning to adapt to contemporary lifestyles. Its jungles are dense, its rivers powerful and rain, and thunderstorms sweep across the hills, valleys and plains during the annual monsoons. The lushness of its landscape, the range of communities and geographical and ecological diversity makes the North East quite different from other parts of the subcontinent. In winters, mist carpets the valleys but swirls around the traveller in hills during summer rains, thus creating an enchanting and romantic atmosphere. The region has borders with Myanmar Bhutan and Bangladesh. The festivals and celebrations in the North- eastern states of India are a colourful reflection of the people and their lives. Throughout the year, different people celebrate festivals with lot of fanfare in different ways, most of them centering around their modes of living and livelihood. North East India comprises of seven states commonly known as the “Seven Sisters”. They are Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura. Each state is a traveller’s paradise, with picturesque hills and green meadows which shelters thousand of species of flora and fauna. In addition, the states provide scope for angling, boating, rafting, trekking and hiking. Besides, there are a number of wild life sanctuaries and national parks where rare animals, birds and plants which will surely provide fascinating insight to the visitors.

Itinerary

Day 01: NJP Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport – Kalimpong (77 kms in 2-3 hrs)
Meeting & Greeting on arrival at NJP Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport & transfer to Kalimpong (4091 ft.). On arrival check in to hotel & rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at Kalimpong.

Day 02: Kalimpong Local Sightseeing – Gangtok (77 kms / 3 hrs)
After Breakfast half day tour of Kalimpong (Starts 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM) Visit Mangal Dham, Deolo Hill, Dr. Graham’s Home, Golf Garden, Durpin Dara Hills & Flowers Nurseries. Afternoon transfer to Gangtok (5,480 ft.), Capital of Sikkim. On arrival check-in to your hotel. Overnight stay at Gangtok.

Day 03: Excursion to Changu Lake & Baba Mandir (Alternative Sightseeing - Namchi Excursion)
After breakfast start for an excursion to Changu Lake (12,312 ft.) & Baba Mandir (13,200 ft.) which is 55 kms from Gangtok city each way (Starts 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM). Overnight stay at Gangtok.

Day 04: Gangtok Local Sightseeing - Pelling (117 Kms / 5 hrs)
This morning (Starts 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM) for a half day trip of Gangtok city covering Banjhakri Falls/Bakthang Falls, Cottage Industry and Handicraft Centre, Flower show, Dro-dul Chorten & Institute of Tibetology. Afternoon transfer to Pelling (6,100 ft.). On arrival check-in to your hotel. Overnight stay at Pelling.

Day 05: Pelling Sightseeing
After breakfast start for full day sightseeing (Starts 8:30 AM - 4: 30 PM) visit Singshore Bridge, Darap village, Kanchenjunga waterfalls, Rimbi water Falls, Khecheopalri Lake, Pemayangtse Monastery, Rabdantse Palace Ruins and Bird Sanctuary. Overnight stay at Pelling.

Day 06: Pelling - Darjeeling (117 kms /5 hrs)
This morning after breakfast transfer to Darjeeling (6,710 ft.), Enjoy scenic beauty of Rangeet River Valley on the way. On arrival check-in to your hotel & rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at Darjeeling.

Day 07: Darjeeling Sightseeing
Early Morning at 4:00 am drive to Tiger hill to watch the sunrise over Mt. Kanchenjunga (28,208 ft. Worlds 3rd highest peak), on your way back visit Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop. After breakfast visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Zoological Park (Thursday closed), Tenzing Rock, Tibetan Refugee self-help Centre (Sunday closed), Tea Garden (outer view) and Japanese Temple (4 hrs from 9.00 to 13.00 hrs), free evening. Overnight stay at Darjeeling.

Day 08: Darjeeling – NJP Railway Station /Bagdogra Airport (98 kms / 3 hrs)
After breakfast check out from hotel and transfer to NJP Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport for your onward journey, Tour ends.
